1) CArbs I had the car running well, with no air filters on, I ran a few hundred yards through all the gears last weekend and all was well. Tonight to get to the paint shop, I put air filters on. I had to tun with the choke on to get any power, without the choke on it backfired and sputtered with no power. .What adjustment is necessary?
2) There iare two large connectors above my left knee under the dash, I have had no turn signals now, and was going to trouble shoot after the paint job. On the way to the paint shop, I hit this bundle of wires and the car died, nothing no power, I wiggled the wires and presto, power, and for a second a few seconds the left turn signal (which was on) was working. I had no time to investigate tonight. WHat wires are there. I plan on disconnecting all wires 1 at a time and reconnecting, There was a purple wire disconnected that I saw. Ideas??

All the wiring from the column, ignition switch, turn signals, horn, wipers, high beam, etc go through a single connector near were the dash meets the column. This is a good place to look for a loose connection based on your previous posts.

That's strange. I'd think if anything, adding air filters would have a slight "choking" effect - making it run perhaps a little richer. Apply choke would make it run richer still. I'd take the air filters off and see if it ran normally again. If it did, I'd really be confused. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazyeyes.gif

Make sure the small, offset hole in the air cleaner baseplate matches up with the one on the carb body. It's possible to put them on incorrectly, blocking the hole.
