It would be really cool to see you end up with it again. It reminds me of a episode of Chasing Classi Cars, in which a son had tracked down his dads old AC car, bought it, painted it and put back to the exact look his dad had in his pics, and presented it to him. Real cool...

I can't even imagine it. I've been trying to find his first Bugeye for a decade. I've seen a few cars with serial numbers that were so close my heart skipped a beat. While trying to find that car I was able to put Dad back in touch with one of his pals from way back in the day. Goes to show it's worth looking because you never know what or who will pop up. It would be great to know that this car is still out there, but at the very least it's good to share some pics with people who appreciate the them.

Steve - that photo is GREAT!!!!!. this photo confirms it. your Dad purchased a deluxe 100 Six 2Porthead Longbridge BN4, built early 57 or late 56. It has some interesting items that are note worthy 1 - the 2 porthead, 2 - early style radiator hose clamps, 3 - spark plug caps with separate tags probably numbered, and 4 - a painted washer on the firewall asbestos. It is too bad we can't determine if this Longbridge had the vacuum line trap. It does not seem to be there in the photo. thank you very much for sharing jim:driving: You have to note this trivia is only interesting to Longbridge owners
 
Yes, originality buff win there!

Wire clamps on the breather pipe, retaining wire on the RH side of the rocker cover breather cap, 'thin' breather cap, light-coloured (i.e. not black) air cleaners, light coloured heater return and fuel pipes, 'jubilee' style hose clamp on heater hose, engine colour on breather hoses except the one to the air cleaner, later 2-port head casting which almost certainly wouldn't have had the flame trap in the advance tube, spark plug wire/cap detail.

Great! Glad you guys are finding points of interest. Here's the only other engine pic I have found. I'm working on a photo album that I'll link you to when I'm done. The scanning is slow...

Steve - thanks for the second photo. Is there anyway that you can read the digits on the rectangular tag on the left side of the front of the radiator. That tells you the build date of the radiator and generally within 2 months the radiator was placed into car. jim:driving:
 
I've zoomed in on the tag but the original photo is just not that sharp. Having said that, the second digit really looks like a 1. If you can send me one or more close ups of other tags I can compare them...
Can the build date be narrowed down based on comparison to other cars with known build dates or is the record keeping that sporadic at Longbridge?
 
Steve - Great rear view!!!. too bad it is not in color. I would love to know if those rear reflectors were red or amber? Keep those Longbridge photos coming. jim
 
Interesting that it doesn't appear to have a 100/6 badge under the AH badge on the rear right. It also has some sort of badge on the left....hmmm

Steve - check out www.healeydata.com/cars/results I hope the page is still working. anyway Listed there is a BN4L-O-35805 built 2/27/57 and also a BN4L-O-41771 built 5/13/57. that should help to give you a frame of reference for the build date of your Dad's Longbridge jim:driving:
 
Healeydata doesn't always sequence properly- 40559 is there but because it is RHD doesn't show in the left/right arrow sequence. Built 18 April 57.

I reckon March 57 for this car.
 
A second trunk badge on the right side below the script only began with the 3000 lightning bolt. The 100-Six lightning bolt would have been on the grill though. Bob
 
Interestingly my BNLO76762 late model has extra holes in the boot and the bonnet and boot numbers match.
