2 gems on Ebay

There are 2 '59 TR3A s listed on Ebay, both at the same house....They both look awful, I can't believe the bidding has hotten so high so fast.

[/ QUOTE ]Well, "awful" might be a bit strong a word. On the other hand, both have surprising amounts of rust for "California" cars, so one must assume they were coastal cars or sat in damp areas for very long periods of time.

Yet another way (for me) of looking at this is that it means the two TR3As I've been holding onto (in the ever-more-foolish and fading hope that I'll be able to do something with them) are continuing to appreciate almost as nicely as are restored or very good original cars! I rather like that. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

It doesn't look that bad, and there's a TR4 in the background as well. The seller seems to be a dealer with other cars also listed for sale, including a TR6....

An understatement.

Do TR3's all have the multiple black tape door locking system?

yeah. he's a dealer that I've ranted on in the past. He's got a storefront about 5 miles from my office and I've stopped by a couple of times to talk with him.

I haven't checked on these 2 but I'd be willing to bet that his reserve is in the neighborhood of 6K for either one.

Personally I wouldn't touch his stuff with a ten foot pole.

Sold a "rust free" TR3 body tub about a month ago who's primary color was rust. And it was missing pretty much everything that was below the battery box - nothing left to mount the tunnel to.

Somehow managed to get more than 2K.... a rusty tub... no frame... no engine... no nothing. It boggles the mind.

Has a rough looking XK120 that he keeps listing too. I seem to recall that the reserve was met last time he had it up. I wonder if someone bailed after actually seeing the car.
