TR6 2 Fuel pump rebuild questions

First, I have the fuel pump off my 72 TR6 and note there are 2 thin grey rubber-like washers left over after putting it all back together (that were not on the original take off). They look to be the diameter of the pin that attaches the rocker arm to the engine. Are these to go inside the steel washers on either side of the pin to reduce oil leakage?? Any ideas?

Second, does the rocker arm attach in any special way in the engine upon reassembly? Thanks in advance for any help.

The lever arm sits against a special lobe on the engine's camshaft. Depending upon the position of the high point on that lobe the fuel pump may not fit flush against the engine until you finish tightening the 2 nuts that attach the pump to the engine.
If the high spot in the cam's fuel pump lobe is not in that position the pump and gaskets fit flush right up against the block from the very start...either way is fine...don't forget the gasket that goes between the pump and the engine block.
I can't say I know anything about those 2 washers...unless one is for the top bolt that holds the lid on...and if your kit had the plastic filter screen, you'd be better off omitting it or reuse the brass one if it's available.

Thanks for the input on the engine bolt on process. The top bolt on the pump has its own special washer, so the mystery continues. At least the old pump didn't have any washers like these so they may be excess.

The mystery is solved..Saw the rebuild kit on TRF and the 2 rubber washers are actually gaskets that go on the fuel pump arm below the diaphragm to help prevent gas leaking thru the pump into the oil down in the pan. (They claim). These were not on the original pump. Now to take the pump off again to put these on....at least I haven't started the car since the rebuild since every inch of the fuel line I have touched has needed to be replaced also...

You might find a rawhide seal already there if you have an original AC fuel pump.
