My car's BMIHT Certificate mentions that car had optional "2.6 ply tyres". Does anyone know what distinguishes those tires from the standard tire?

Don’t think that makes any sense ... you can’t have 2.6 ply. I believe most tires in the day would have been 4 ply. 6 ply might have been an option. Cheers, Mike

Agreed, it makes no sense which is why I am asking.

The mystery continues. I received a reply from the BMIHT:

"I have checked the factory record and '2.6 ply tyres' is definitely recorded, it is quite clear. However, as to what it is referring to, like you, I cannot make out. I've been through Bill Piggott's book 'Original Triumph TR' and can find no mention in that either.

Best Regards

Certificate Officer"

First one I've seen with a medium wave radio from the factory. Do you still have it?

I haven't even received the car yet. It's still in Vancouver waiting for the trucking company to schedule it on a load heading my direction. But yes, it's still in the car.

And just to follow up on the radio, our AM band is in the “Medium Frequency“ range.
