... or,why don't I take my own advice?
As I was doing the annual trimming of our hedge,
with an electric trimmer,I kept thinking to myself,
the advice that I'd give someone doing this is to
always watch where the electric cord is,& NEVER cut it.
Guess what happened?

I admire that you'd share that, I doubt I would. I'm also envious that you can trim hedges in February... :cheers:
 
me too - and let me tell you about my wife's uncle running the lawn mower over the coiled cord.

I think I mentioned here before but when I did that recently I compounded my stupidity by repairing the cut wire with another male end.
 
I've seen it done with circular saws too. We were in a hurry, the saw just quit..... My cousin was pretty upset with himself and what he did to his brand new saw. (He was a perfectionist) It didn't help that I couldn't stop laughing.
 
That is why saws and trimmers have short cords on them. If you have to cut the cord, better the extension cord not the attached one.

I always got along better when I had the cord run over my shoulder.
 
My hedge is about 60' long and 7' high, it takes about 50 minutes to trim it once per week in warm weather.

After many severed power cords, I purchased a Black and Decker cordless trimmer. With an extra 18v battery, it does the trick nicely. No cord to cut, and the battery trimmer is lighter in weight and easier to handle.

I'm Never going back to a corded trimmer. :nonono:

Get a battery trimmer and save your extension cords! :yesnod:
 
Once a week, Mark your a glutton for punishment
 
I use a machete to trim the stuff around here. Cordless by design, no batteries needed. :smirk:

Best solution I've found to hedge trimming, is don't plant one! :devilgrin: :winner1:

:iagree: All those years of trimming my parents' hedges when I was growing up convinced me to never own shrubbery that need trimming.
