I'm searching for "HQ" bearing for my BJ8 1st motion shaft and mainshaft.

1st motion shaft OEM 6K777 40x90x23

Bearing brands Nachi, NTN, NSK, Koyo all made in Japan.

SKF - Italy or France. FAG - Portugal

Listed as 6308, 6308NR, 6308C3. What does NR, C3 stand for?

What is the correct number bearing ?

What brand is the best?

C3 relates to the bearing's internal clearance and NR is for the snap ring groove
You have to be careful buying name brand bearings like SKF, there are Chinese fakes out there.
I recently replaced the bearings in my side shift gearbox, I bought MRC brand from ebay. They were produced likely 10-20 years ago but new in the box. We use MRC bearings on all our jet engine gearboxes, good enough for an F18, good enough for a Healey. Price range on ebay: $20 to $50
I originally bought one from Moss because the picture showed a SKF made in USA for $30, which was too good to be true, and it was. They shipped me a very low quality SCH made in Korea, which had a lot on internal clearance play. I sent it back for refund and asked them and they did refund all my shipping costs both ways since the picture showed an SKF.

Hi dezand, thanks for your information.
I too had the same experience with Moss. Purchased front/rear bearings, site photo showed SKF. What I got was bearings with no reference to manufacture or part number stamped on the bearings. I contacted them about what I got and asked why the bearing aren't SKF as their photo showed. Answer was they are good bearings, SCH brand and the photo is old. I asked why not take the photo down, it's misrepresenting what your selling.

Let's see what AHS has.
GBS152 1st motion shaft Non-Branded ÂŁ18.53
GBS152HQ 1st motion shaft ÂŁ60.55

I asked what brand/part GBS152 and GBS152HQ are.
Reply:
GBS152 6308NR Non-Branded ÂŁ18.53 OE Number 6K777
GBS152HQ 6308NR FAG ÂŁ60.55 OE Number 6K777

GBS152HQ must be a fanatic bearing. Sometimes things in UK are cheaper then US and vise versa.
My search found the FAG6308NR to cost $18.00 USA.
Something doesn't see right.

Of all the bearing brands I listed in my prior post, the FAB was the least expensive?

Thoughts on Nachi, Koyo made in Japan, better quality?

Please under stand, I'm not criticizing Moss or AHS, just sharing my findings. I like and buy from both venders.

If I was looking for this bearing and I did not want to purchase an old stock from ebay, then I would buy this one:
SKF bearing
If you make an account there I think the price drops to $85
The FAG you listed was 66 pounds, but in dollars it is like 85 plus shipping.
$18 for a FAG in the US is cheap, but it might be fine from surplus dealer on ebay. If they say it is new production, then likely it is made in China.

SKF will not guarantee it is a genuine SKF unless you buy it from one of their distributors, which Motion is.
SKF has an App for your phone to determine if the SKF bearing you bought is genuine. You open the App, say what size bearing it is, etc, and upload pics of the bearing markings, and any markings on the box. They get back to you in a day or two and let you know. I bought the larger overdrive bearing for the annulus which is an SKF RLS10, very hard to find in a high quality bearing. I got the SKF on ebay in a never opened box, perfect condition, made in Italy. Using the App they responded that it was genuine. I think I paid $25 for it.
There are a lot of good bearings on ebay. If a bearing has seals and is greased inside then I likely would not buy old stock, but the bearings for the gearbox and overdrive are all open. So as long as they are in the box and wrapped or in a plastic bag, they are good. The sellers usually have multiple pics of the bearing itself.

Hello dezand, have you heard of Chinese fake Nachi, NTN, NSK, Koyo?
Do any of those companies have an app to confirm not fake?
Thank you for your help.

I have found a seller who has authentic SKF 6308 bearings.

6308NR is out of stock.

He has 6308NR/C3 and 6308 2RS NR

Seller says the 6308 2RS NR will be the same, after I remove the "2RS" 2 rubber seals from the outside of the bearing. Would you buy that and do that?

The NR/C3 is different from the NR. Ok to buy the C3 or look for another seller that has 6308NR?

I don't mind waiting to get the correct bearing, but not sure which one it is. NR or NR/C3?
