1999 xk8 steering wheel swap out '93 xj6

Does anyone know if you can interchange the steering wheel from a 1999 XK8 VIN #C035142 to a '93 XJ6/XJ40 VIN # 679915? Will there be a direct fit to steering column? How do you remove the steering wheel on the XJ6 anyway?
Thanks everyone.

You are going to need the factory service manual. You have to deactivate the airbag (SRS) very carefully then remove the 4 bolts that have bolt heads facing forward that secures the airbag module to the wheel. If proper care is not used, you can set off the bag. This has to be done with the battery disconnected.

The problem is that the airbag unit is supposed to be replaced every ten years and are very "pricey". A wheel assembly and SRS from a 1999 is already past the changeout date. Then you can get at the nut securing the steering wheel.

What you are proposing is dangerous to a novice.

Also, the 93 has a "mechanically" fired air bag. The XK8 I think is electrical. All in all probably not a great idea.

I concur, Nice wheels are already available for the XJ40.
