Hello forum,

The wife is looking into getting a used Disco from 1998-2002 and I wanted to find out if a high mileage car (100,000+) is something to avoid. Since I'm new to the world of Land Rovers, I also want to get some pointers what to look for when inspecting one.

Thanks,
Steven

Hey, Steven -

Properly maintained, these are pretty durable. The V8 is the same basic engine that's been around for a long while. One area to be wary of, though, is the cam. They are known to wear pretty quickly, especially if the oil hasn't been changed frequently enough. If this one has had regular, frequent oil changes, you may be OK, but do check that out.

Keep us posted.

Mickey
