Had a really nice Running car until the fuel pump stopped working. I replaced it and all was OK. I left for the summer and when back the car started giving problems.
I thought it may be the pump again as I didn't like the look of the electrical connector inside the access cap. I purchased a fuel pressure gauge and tested the pressure on the feed to the fuel rail. 12 ibs only. I think its supposed to be 36 ish. so checking back through the filter same thing and then back to the pump housing. same again.
Housing apart pressure direct from the pump shows around 90 lbs. replace the housing top and through the non return valve on 12lbs.
Delving further where the pump attaches to the cap the fuel can go in two directions or so it seems. through the non return or the other way down back into the housing.
I know this is my problem as i have just finished fitting the pump directly to the feed hose and the car run well again.
Has anyone run into this before?
Is there a fix for the housing?
I don't think you can purchase another housing. Do I modify it with an inline non return valve and pump directly.
Sorry for being so wordy.
