Wedge 1980 TR8 dash wiring question

I have no trip odo reset or rheostat knob. I see the place under the dash where they both 'clip in'(a black two slot kind of thing). I see a hole in the back of the speedo that I assume it came out from. I see a disconnected grn/brown wire with a small female spade connection. It appears to come from the gas guage(which does not work). I also see two large white wires coming from the harness, one has a brown tracer and the other has a green tracer. They connect into a grey connector that has three female connections on the other end. What appears to be great DPO move is that a small loop of wire with two male ends connects to 2 of the 3 connections.
I have no dash lights which led to the search.

The temp guage and fuel guage are out of service as well.
If there is an online resource for wire diagrams could someone provide me with the link.

Thanks

The dash lamp rheostat is below the heater controls?! I think that under the dash is the trip reset and the clock adjust. I had a problem last month with no dash lamps. They use the same fuse as the right side marker lamps. If the marker lamps come on you "should" be getting juice to the rheostat. I say "should" because I went found that I was getting 12 volts at the rheostat, but, not enough current to illuminate the dash lamps. Turns out the fuse was a high resistance fuse, tested good on an ohm meter, but no dash lamps until I replaced the fuse. Dash lighting at the rheostat is red/white (of the top of my head).

I have an entire TR8 wiring harness out of my parts car if you need photos of various sections out of the harness.

Here is a great resource for TR8 diagrams.

If you have an '80 model, the clock and odometer resets go in those slots. '81 models had a clock and odometer with push button resets.

Mickey

Well, no need to email anything since Mickey posted the link. Right on... (greetings from SoCal. Anyone else want another glass of wine?)

Already on my second glass. cheers to all the members. Been installing the check engine light on the *8 as it was just laying in the foot well of the passenger side.Put it in the swith plinth next to the fog light switch.

I was looking in a friend's Bentley Manual for guidance on the switches and controls but maybe I got it confused. For an 80 model year the clock and trip odo resets are on the black holder I mentioned? Is the rheostat then that round knob on the center console? I turned that to no avail a while ago.
Thanks for the help so far, now to find out what the bg white wires are and why they are tied together now and what is that grn/br wire for.

It's the one with the arrow in a circular direction. Did you know there are all kinds of bulbs in that area around the switches? I found four above the radio and two that light the illumination strip for the switch lettering. Wow!

On my two wedges the instrument lighting doesn't get very bright. Cannot tell if they are on in the daylight.

The rheostat knob is easy to remove; a spring loaded pin holds the knob on the shaft. Push it in with a small punch while tugging on the knob and it should come off.

I removed the radio to get at the rheostat itself. Red wire is incoming 12v, Red/white is the out going power to the lamps.

I'm looking at my instrument panel wiring harness right now and don't see a Green/Brown wire, but there are two different greens, a light green and normal green. So I wonder if the Green/Brown you are looking at might be for speakers?

I think it is what they call light green which according to the diagram is between the turnsignal switch and the flasher so I guess I am all ok that way.

Please see my info in Colin's post. I will from now on add all my questions and answers here.
