1980 MGB on test drive suddenly loses electrics and dies - what to look at?

I've got a pair of Volvo HIF's on a 2 for 1 E-bay sale, Rick. If I can decide which one I'll use you can have the other. Linkage manufacture would be required.

Kurt.

Nice, that's really great Kurt!
Let me know.

Rick,

I talked to Phil last night and he has an SK clone of the DCOE 45 and MGB manifold that he has had for sale for a while. I'll send you the original post and a link to pictures.

Thanks Rich, sounds interesting!

I just bled the clutch, bled until the fluid was coming out clear.
Very dark stuff was in there, no wonder the pedal was soft.
I also opened the glove box.
Poor PO was very confused.
Said he tried and tried to open it over the past year and it just would not open.
I put the key in, turned it 180 degrees and pushed the button..
Got the paperwork from Les Schwab for the new tires, less than 2000 miles since they were put on about 3 years ago.
Paperwork for front bushing replacement and for new brake master all less than 2000 miles ago.
Now I'm going out to drive the thing in the sunshine for a while, before I get started on the yard work. :D

Rick, I checked on my HIF6 Volvo carbs and found that I didn't get a bargain after all. Only one has a choke or "mixture enrichener" on it. I guess if you are running two that is really all you need! Also only one ported for dissy advance. The same as the choke one. If you are looking for one the holes on the square are 2 1/8 inches on center. 4 of course.

Kurt.

Thanks Kurt,
Scott Howell over on MG Exp has an HIF6 from a Marina he's willing to sell me reasonably.
Sounds like it would be hard to do any better, I'll need to rebuild it of course but I've done a couple HIF rebuilds and so I'm confident about doing it myself.
Rick
