1979 MGB Flasher Big Headache

1979 MGB roadster.....I am so confused! Flashers will not funtion. Right rear flasher will not light. Bulb good, flasher switch is good, ground good, hazzards work (fast) except that one rear right. This is (I think) the reason why my turn signals will not operate ... Any ideas/ new member/ thanks...:hammer:

First, welcome aboard!

If it is JUST that one lamp, you likely have a bad bulb or contact at the base of it. Lens off, bulb out, do a "hospital clean" treatment to the socket and contacts. Just replace the bulb, they're cheap.

I have also seen where the socket thats crimped to the tail light base is not grounding. Might want to try a jumper wire to ground and see if thats the problem. If non of your turn signals operate then the hazard switch may be dirty inside or the 2nd flasher is bad. I think one is behind the radio console and the other (which operates the signals) is on the passenger side behind the dash. Welcome to the BCF! Bob

Go HERE and find the appropriate wiring diagram for reference,

The hazard switch effectively changes between the hazard circuit (making all four corners flash at once on its own flasher) and the directional signal one.

If the ONLY bulb not flashing is that rear one with the hazard switch in either position, the bulb/socket is your issue. If the directional signals don't function AT ALL on either side, look to the hazard switch or directional flasher Bob referenced on the starboard side under the dash. You may have two problems at once.
