1974 Windshield washer tank mounting

Hi all
Question about proper mounting of the windshield washer tank.
I got 3 new rubber blind nuts and when I installed the mount using them the tank is to close to the air filter.
There are two other holes that are not large enough to allow the rubber blind nuts to be used without drilling them out larger, but they line up perfect with the tank mount and provide the clearance. These smaller holes are sited outboard to the left of the large outboard hole. Here is a photo.

Did they not use the rubber blind nuts in later cars?
Didn't want to just drill out larger holes without knowing.
What is the proper way to mount this beast?

Also here's a shot of the interior with the new dash and carpet and plinth recovered.

Can you tell what the weather is like today in Western Washington?

Dump that stock air box and get some better breathing ones.

I just replaced mine, also...

My '76 Six used the holes further away from the air cleaner box. One was large enough for the rubber nut. The outside hole and the bottom screw hole were not. I drilled out the outside hole, but left the bottom hole as-is, since I couldn't get a drill down there to drill it out. I ended up using a regular screw (rather then the allan screw)with a bolt on the foot well side to hold it tight.

It is the outer holes you want to use.

Nice job on the plinth & dash, Norton.

A few questions:

Where did you get the clear plastic line for the washer to nozzle feeds? Mine is ratty looking and TRF no longer sells it.

I see that you have Miata seats. What year are those from? Do you know the range of years that will fit?

What did you do for mounting brackets?

And lastly, do you know if these will fit with the standard roll bar?

I had a roll bar before installing my Miata seats & re-doing my interior, and no they do not allow you to recline, so I had to remove it, there is a man on another forum...The Guy from Quebec, who makes a roll bar he says should work and they are definitely the nicest out there.

The clear hose is from Home Depot. 3/16" I believe.
The Miata seats, came from a fella that does up racing cars.
I am not sure of the actual year, but based on the fabric and speaker locations I think they are earlier ones.
The mounts I had made to the pattern from this link. I had a local shop run them up.

As this site states 1990-1999 seats are good to go.
As I don't have a roll bar not sure, but as the next post states they will not and the fella in Quebec makes a roll bar that might. This sounds like the way I will need to go then as I want to add a roll bar. I have seen his site before when I have looked over the 6 Pack forum. Seems like a great guy.
The seats are just to way to comfortable to not have and the speakers from PBC Automotive, really work well, even with the top down. https://www.pbcauto.com/pbcauto-products.html
