1974 tr6 twin choke cables. solid wire cables will pull chokes on but not push them off. I have tried different adjustments to both inner and outer case. Should I go ahead and replace the cable assembly? is it normal for these choke levers to not have a return spring? Thanks for help.

From the factory...pre 73 cars had choke cables that were mutli stranded and very flexible...because of that there were return springs on the choke fast idle cam...and a twist to lock choke cable knob to keep the choke engaged at whatever amount you want or need.
From 73 on the choke cable had a single stiff wire that was capable of not only pulling the choke fast idle cam UP/ON, but also stiff enough to push the choke DOWN to an OFF position.
You can purchase the spring and install it on the post 72 chokes...I have a spring on ONE of mine to help keep the chokes OFF.

Thanks very much. I had an idea that may the reason for no springs. I seem to have a binding cable. My friend got the car recently, and only 1 cable was connected. I will proceed. I may have a spring to try.
