I have been on the fence as whether to sell this car or not for a long time, and I guess that its now time to let it go. I may ramble in this ad.

tal.JPG

1973 Triumph GT6 MK3
2.0L S6 Original Engine w/ 52,900 miles
2x Original ZS 150CD or CDSE carbs(I forget) that are synchronized and don't leak.
4sp. Non-OD transmission, Original
Original Wheels, amateur repaint when bored last year.
Very little rust, but here is where it is:

Bottom of driver and passenger rocker panels.
Bottom at weld of Passenger Rear Quarter Panel.
Both Front Valences, one was bondoed, would replace both as bondo is a stupid thing to do on a part like that.

Now the good:

The hood is rustless, the doors are great, and there are only a few dings on the car. The car has very presentable paint, but because of the bodywork that needs to be done, it's pointless to not repaint the car. The car was repainted in the 1980's by the previous owner, and is a very close match to the original color. The engine does NOT burn or leak ANY oil. Currently, the gearbox leaks at the transmission to driveshaft seal.

More stuff:

The handbrake sticks, and needs to be worked on so it is functional. The power booster is untested, as it was disconnected when I bought the car, and I have no idea how to get it going. It needs an alignment and has one bent wheel. The chrome on the bumpers is ok, but I would get a rechrome if this were to be restored. The frame is straight and not rusted. The car was rustproofed sometime in the mid eighties, and everything underneath has great paint, and no evidence of any rust repair. The inside of the car has already been went through, and the floors have been wire brushed, reinforced on the welds with fiberglass, and repainted. The seat frames have been wire brushed, repainted, restuffed amateurly and the original good condition cloth seat covers were put back on. It has new carpet w/ rear deck mat. It needs new door panels, as the ones it has are cheap looking and were made quickly by me just to get the car on the road. The car is mostly complete (Minus the armrest, pads that go next to it, and the little cover that goes over the pads, along with the spare tire.).

This is sad to sell, but I am a college student, and my parents told me I can't keep it in the garage when I move out.

Make an Offer and we'll see how it goes. PM me, or call (616)401-2713, anytime up until 2:00A.M. EST.

Not lack of interest - lack of funds! Sweet looking 'rumph! My son is wanting a Spit, but if he had the bucks I'd point him in your direction.

Good Luck /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

I'd post a price to start from.

In another post, you mentioned that if you fixed the fuel line the car would be driveable? If so, I'd invest the time to do so. A driveable car, regardless of overall condition, will sell much easier than one that isn't.

Also post it on Craigslist and ClassicCarTrader.com, then as a last resort: Ebay. A car like this could sell today or next month. Depends on how much you want for it and the right person stumbling onto it so the trick it to get it in front of as many eyes as possible.

This is something that definately interests me. But unfortunately the funds are lacking a little bit. But it's worth looking into.

I sent you an email right after you first posted it...did you get it?? I am very interested and you arn't all that far from me....Could you please send me some more pics(engine, interior, rocker area etc.)...Is the car currently registered for the road? If not how long has it been off?
Also what does it need to be driveable?(ie Fueline?)

Re: 1973 Triumph GT6 MK3 for Sale - Make Offer

I craigslisted it yesterday. I am asking $3000, and I will fix the fuel line so it is running before the sale of the car. I may buy a new wheel, but will probably not have time to paint it, but maybe I will.

Truly, no one here should believe the car runs, when it won't run when they look at it. The longest trip I have ever gone in this car was a 40mi round trip(I just don't go places), and it was a pleasant trip.

As far as transport, I will help you, for free, get it loaded up and ready to go with whatever mode of transport you choose.

To be a on the road driver with some quirks, all it needs is a fuel line. To be relatively problem free, it needs a new wheel too. To be worry free, it needs those two things and a seal installed at the gearbox and driveshaft.

Despite my age, this car was never thrashed because of my immense respect for it. This car was meant to tour, not rip up the roads doing burnouts; That's what white-trash IROC-Z's are for. But say you don't believe me, it's had less than a thousand miles since I got it.

I will send out pics to everyone who requested them later tonight, as I stay up until 1 - 2 AM every night due to insomnia.

Well, then get a heater in the garage and start spinning wrenches! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Re: 1973 Triumph GT6 MK3 for Sale - Make Offer

From the pics shown, the car looks pretty good. If you can spend some time and get it running and marginally drivable, I'm sure it'll sell pretty quickly for $3000. Not running... might be tough. Doesn't make a lot of sense, but that seems to be how it goes.

Good luck! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Gas line replaced. Runs and drives. I forgot to mention this, but the original ad posts the wrong mileage, it's supposed to say 51,830.

Thanks for looking,

Re: 1973 Triumph GT6 MK3 for Sale - Make Offer

Just my 2 cents, but honestly, $3,000 seems a bit high, especially with the rust the car has. The pics of the rockers show how bad it is. From my experiences, for every 1 rust spot you see, there are 100 that you don't until you get the body stripped. And, if the PO undercoated the car before you bought it, it could be hiding major rust in the floor pan, that you may not be aware of.

A running, drivable 1970 GT6+ just sold on E-Bay in Boise, ID for $910.00. It was original, complete and no rust at all. It just needed the interior restored and *minor* body work to remove a dent in the front fender.
