sundown, take the grill out, close the hood, put paint sticks all over the place after getting all the bolts loose on the front hinges. Now you have a chance to keep to alignment it. If you tighten a bolt and it starts to move, leave that one alone and go to the other side, back and forth until all are snug. Make sure you take the bracket off the rear of the hood, (bonnet), align it later on center.

You are saying by paint sticks meaning the stir sticks. Do you rest them on the fenders when adjusting?
 
Sundown, Yes the stir sticks, I place them sticking up after you have taken the bolts loose. You may need to use two sticks in each spot, depending on how well you car was put together. One stick gap would be ideal, just something to shoot for, not that it's going to be a reality. Use anything you can find that has a consistent width that your hood has.
