I am thinking about turning the adjusting screw CCW until it stops or just cover up the passages with a gasket. What are the pros and cons of doing this? Will it affect engine performance? The reason for this is high idling issues.
 
I posted my opinion on the other topic...but since you have a 73 I have to add that with that version of the carbs, there is another thing that can cause the idle to hang up beside the TBV failing to completely close.
Disable the TBV and if the condition continues..repost with the situation.
