Never Owned 1971 Austin America
This 1971 Austin America has apparently never been titled and only has 149 miles from new. Amazingly, in those few miles it has had a fair amount of mechanical work to keep it fresh.
THAT'S why it's never been titled and only has 147 miles!!

Re: 1971 Austin Marina FS - 149 miles

I remember those when new.....and folks I knew who bought one....and learned NEVER to depend on it.....and the bank account depletion caused by it....

I think the 149 isn't so much the MILES as what he PAID so the dealer could get it off his lot in 71.

Neat AC OEM offering with it.

Good way to retard speeds on downhill grades.

Or come to a complete stop on uphill......

Must be the reason it was never installed.

Re: 1971 Austin Marina FS - 149 miles

"The tires, battery, rear wheel cylinders, clutch slave cylinder, lower radiator hose, water pump, fuel filter, carburetor rebuild, several oil changes have been included in the service. Any service has been performed by professional foreign car mechanics with original equipment parts. The car runs as new and everything works, even all the gauges. The suspension has never had to be recharged. The original paint in all its British Leyland glory has been maintained. There has been a small amount of repaint at the right rear fender due to a dent many years ago, but it matches well. The right rear hub cap has scratches. The headliner has stains from sound proofing that has fallen from the roof and caused stains as it contacts the headliner. The foam in the sun visors are getting soft."

All that at only 149 miles.

Ya needs to catch the problems early.....now about the rust.

Re: 1971 Austin Marina FS - 149 miles

Why did the title of this thread get changed to "Marina"?
It's an America, even says so on the rear of the car.

It IS an Austin America.

Re: 1971 Austin Marina FS - 149 miles

The Austin Marina was a rear driver - Austin America was a front driver. At least they were in my neck of the woods.

Re: 1971 Austin AMERICA FS - 149 miles

Could be.
I remember looking at photos of both long ago......this one is front, says "America" on the rear.
