Hi, we're Dennis and Shirley Hagye. Dennis bought the 1969 MGC in 1974 in Indiana. He had last driven it in 1976. We were married in 1978, built a house in 1980-81in Michigan, had a baby in 1983. In 2002 due to a back injury we sold our house in Michigan and moved back to Indiana. In 2018 we moved to California. We left the MGC in Indiana to be fully restored, knowing it would be more reasonable to accomplish that in Indiana. In late November of 2023, it was delivered to us. YAY! Since the first week of December 2023. We have been trying to get it registered and plated in California. We were able to get a temporary registration in mid-February. That's our story so far.

welcome and good luck with the registration/plating - it can be arduous for sure

Welcome to our forum! Would love to see pictures of your car! Good luck with getting it registered and plated in CA, hopefully without the need for an act of Congress.

Depending on where you're located, you may find our club fun and useful. Our Club is the Sacramento Valley MG Car Club or SVMGCC.

Hi ...Just finished getting my TR-6 registered in Ca. [Ouut of Florida]. What a hassle ! I finally went through the Auto Club. They did the VIN inspection and issued the license. Trying to get a VIN inspection at the CHP seems near impossible, and the DMV are just incompetent. You can wait for MONTHS. Good luck. ...J.D.

By Auto Club do you mean AAA?

Yes. But you have to have a AAA membership. ...J.D.

Here in CA it's called the CAA and it's the best way to get registration processed.
Never any long lines and the staff are experts at solving problems.
You need a CAA membership card but the membership is worth it just for that service.

Used to be CSAA when I lived there -
California State Automobile Association.
