MGB 1969 MGB Fuel Pump issue

Hi Guys

Working on the 69 B restoration and discovered that the fuel pump isn’t working. The car has been sitting for a long while so I suppose it’s to be expected that the pump wouldn’t be working. Anyway, took the pump off, cleaned all the terminals and points and checked out all the other internal parts and still no pressure. I’m thinking maybe it’s the points. Does anyone have parts or a good used pump that they would sell me? I don’t fancy putting a new $400 pump in at this point.

Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Kevin

The pumps are meant to be rebuilt. You might look at the Burlen SU site. I think that you'll need the EPK300 kit (negative ground). I surprised to see that Moss Motors only lists the kit under Jaguar. The AUF300/AZX1300 pumps were used by a lot of different cars.

Thanks for that info Bob. I found several rebuild kits on the Moss site under Jaguar. Do you think this is the correct rebuild kit for the B fuel pump?

Thanks
Kevin

I haven't had much luck with the solid state (electronics) kits. Probably errors on my part. I'd stick with the points.

The parts shown in the Moss web page aren't for a solid state pump as points are included. Surprised to see that the solid state kits are half the cost of the kits with points. But I don't know what you're getting with the solid state kit. Is it the parts required to convert a pump with points to electronic or just the parts to rebuild an electronic pump?

Great news guys after some trial and error, dissembling, reassembling, and cleaning the fuel pump is working like new. Very exciting.
