1963 Mustang II Prototype

The second prototype, the Mustang II, recently was put on display at America On Wheels. I remember building a 1/24 scale model of this car and using it as a slot car body briefly. I do not know much about the history, so if anyone knows any stories about it, please let me know to help with my tours of the museum. It appears that it went to lots of Ford dealers as a demo and show car and it has lots of mileage and a number of dings and dents.

Well, that tells me that the interior is original, and the stripe was a pale blue, not the darker color I remember. That means it might still be original paint with just touch up on the dings...cool. When it was at the New York show the removable hardtop was off, but it is on in the museum.

When I took these interior shots, the museum was closed so we only had the emergency lights on. I should re-photograph the interior when the lights are on...

I have that kit....the original IMC version, the Testors reissue and a 1/16 scale version if memory serves me correctly. I've always liked that car!

Now, that's worth a few dozen bucks...
