1963 3000 MK2 Project Value.

Great project if you are single or have a VERY understanding wife. It looks like many engine parts are off which would make me question the rebuilt engine. But a lot of stuff IS there. Patience and hard work and you will have a beauty. It would be more than I would take on (I've done that before) but the price is good. Just expect the un-expected (ie,$$$).
Oh yeah, congradulation and good luck.

GeoffW:
Just about what You paid for it.Seems like a fair price---Keoke

I paid 5k, im not sure when I will get around to restoring it as I have a pair of older porsches im working on now. My father had a 63 in high school so he should be some help with the mechanics.

Well Geoff, the body work that has been done looked pretty good but that was just a picture. When you get it make sure the engine turns over and put some oil in the holes. Put it where the tin worm can not get to it until you get around to restoring it.--Good luck with it.---Keoke
PS if you can do a Porche this is a snap.
Have the seller box up all the small loose parts and put at least one bolt in each carb to hold them in place they are not bolted on now. There is some indication that the engine has been fiddled with.Water hose clamps are of new style ,Oil filler cap is of aftermarket type.Top water hose is a Jaguar BY pass hose they work but are a bit small.Have POP inventory the few missing items and you can be looking for them here as well as on E-bay--Im through now. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

looks like a reasonalbe value at $5K.....would want to inspect floors, boot floor, frame. Nicer if it ran /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Steve

Of course you're right. Ive just taken a closer look (with glasses!)I never noticed the chrome bits for the wind up windows on first glance. Thats old age for you. Sorry about that

The BT7 did have tri-carbs, that's what the T stands for.
Some were made in 1963, I think, maybe worth checking that VIN and chassis number plates, just to be sure!

Hi Peter,
I believe the “T” denotes four seats. I have a neighbor with a BN7 (2 seater) tri carb. A fabulous restoration I might add.

Greg is right - the T stands for 4 seater in the BMC official 'coding' system. Except they screwed up with the 100-Six!

They just carried on with BN1 BN2 BN3 (actually BN3 was another screw up because it had 4 seats! - Ok so they only made 2)and then the incorrectly named 4 seat BN4. Just another quirk of Healeydom

I stand corrected. sorry for mis-information, totally unintentional! [just checking to see if everyone is on their toes! ;]
Cheers

when i was a youngster[about 15]i went car shopping with an elder friend[18]he wanted a thunderbird,we looked at many, the one i thought was the best deal was one of the less expensive,he chose one of the most expensive,i asked him why he did so,he replied if a car in 'a' shape is worth $ 10,000 and you buy it for $5,000 that means youll have to put at least another $5,000 in it,if you buy that same car for $8,000 youll only have to put $2,000 in it, you know what? over the years i reolized he was generaly right

in addition,i recently purchased a bj7 after looking at many, the prices ranged from $1200.00-$70,000+ the one i bought cost $21,000,much correct restoration had been done, runs good, fresh paint etc. but still has some minor items to tinker with,i use it for therapy, what are your intentions?concours, driver, etc, its worth what you get out of it, not what you can get for it unless your in business, enjoy the endeavor when your done, youll probably look for another,ya-ive had 16 now.just enjoy.P.S.youve come to the right place for assistance, some realy knowledgable folks here!especialy KEOKE ,no kidding!
