What is the rarity of these?
I accidentally pulled into a driveway this evening and there was a 1972 and a 1976 B. There was a spanish guy working there who said his boss might be in later. About an hour after I left, there was a knock on the door where I was helping someone out and it was the spanish guy again. The boss was back. I went over to talk to him and the 1976 was bought from the origianl owner and had to what I am told 64k on the od and only had a few small rust spots on the rear DL. The 72 was in much worse shape. He is going to list both on ebay. $1500 for the 72 and $2600 for the 76. The 76 was nice.
I got to chatting with him and had a bunch of b's. One being the 62 pull handle. He does not want much for it. We swapped email adresses & I asked him to send me the Vin# & a bunch of pitures.
He said it had a factory roll bar bu the floors are shot. Did b's ever some with factroy roll bars? What value does a first year B carry with it.
 
Rarer than the other 2....of the 3, its the one to buy....I own the very first MGB sold in Alabama & its a very early '63....

The MGB never had a roll bar fitted by the factory. It wasn't listed as an option, so it may have been installed by a dealer, but more likely a DPO. For value, it is based on condition, same as any MGB. I am not aware of a first-year car being worth appreciably more than any other.
 
I would think it might be as there were only 4518 produced and that was 44 years ago. I bet not many of these are left. Is there an MGB register like the TD has?
 
I went to look at the '62 today. It is actually a '64 although the registration says '62. It has a hardtop. The car is very solid. Trunk is extremely solid. Worst part is floors & the drivers fender. Passenger rear well starting to go. Other wells are solid. So are kick panels. Pull Handle doors. Original BMC Radio. He has a bunch of other parts for it also. Not sure why PO put that lovely tank in the trunk.

What should I offer for the '64?
Vin#GHN3L20350 Engine #18G-U-H-20726 Last registered in '01

The other album is the '76. Not too sure what to offer for it. 1 owner car Solid except usuall fender spots. Origianl paint. Supossedly 43K miles and the speedo does not look like it has been messed with. (yes there are a few photos of a '72)

'64's worth about $500-$600 because it has a hardtop...that car's gonna have to be totally disassembled & rebuilt - its not even a good parts car!

Other 2 are parts cars...at least around here!

I was gonna offer $500 for it.
 
Offer that & maybe another $500 for the other 2...keep the hardtop & part everything else out...but get ready to break lots of bolts!
 
Actually I think the Vin# is makes it a '63. Did they have Front discs on them in '63
 
Yowser, that '64 is rough. Man, makes my '66 look factory new huh Tony? Is that car really even restorable? I suppose any car is restorable, but whew, too much work for me. I'd offer less than what Tony said, maybe $400 max.

Oh, Janel - your car is perfect compared to those...hardtop could be worth up to $500...car's not worth much if anything..
 
The amount of rust just floored me. I suppose I was thinking about Binabox and her being virtually rustfree. I'd forgotten how bad those tinworms can be.
 
Ater my post I looked that up. Thanks. I thought that earlier cars all had drums.
I offered the guy $300 for the 63 $400 for the 72 and $800 for the 76. All 3 for $1500 and the 76 would be a daily driver. Parts cars would make good money to support the hobby. If he takes it great. I may have to get a harbor freight trailer for these. What it he weight of an average MG B? (less rust) :-]
