Well, the time has come to sell the TR3. This is a very special car to us and it is hard to let it go. I am really hoping the next owner will be an enthusiast that will love it and use it like its original owner did. The car was purchased by my dear friend Norman in Seattle and spent most of its life in California with a brief stint in the Denver area. Norman and his wife moved back to Seattle after retirement and he left the car to me when he died around 2010. The car was their primary vehicle for more than 30 years and they were full of "TR Stories" picnicking in the Sierras, living in the Bay Area, and skiing in the Rockies. The car has been mostly idle for the last 30+ years although I do drive it maybe a dozen times a year.

The TR3 is not restored and is in the condition you would expect for a 60+ year old car that was well loved and well used. I know a fair bit about the history of the car and would be happy to share with any prospective buyers. The car was repainted at some point in its life I believe in the early 80s. It has just over 132,000 miles on it. Norman told me the motor was rebuilt by a very well known British car mechanic at 100,000 miles and while I was going through some papers I found a written receipt with notes from Norman Balzer who I have come to learn was well known in the British car community (> A Tribute: The Norman Balzer Cars <). The car currently has had most of the carpet removed and the new owner will have to redo the interior. I fixed a crack in the seat pan where the seat bolt holes are which I believe is a common problem on these cars. There is surface rust on the seat pans that was treated with something but nothing structural, no holes, etc.

Mechanically the car runs great and I took it for about an hour drive this past fall. All the tune up items are done including a new radiator fan. I have put in a hi-torque starter and an oil filter conversion kit but still have the originals. I purchased new tires about 8 years ago and these have very few miles on them. I do think they need to be rebalanced. I believe a new clutch will be needed soon.

I am not sure how to price the car as most that I have seen for sale are either restored or in dire need of restoration. I found this recent sale on BAT (> Single-Family-Owned 1959 Triumph TR3A <) and am using it as a guide for my pricing. Given that the interior of this example is done and it may be in a little better shape I am asking $22,500. I am open to offers especially for the right buyer. Car is located about an hour north of Seattle. Please feel free to contact me with questions. I would love to talk to anyone interested more about the car and am posting it here to see if there is interested before putting it on Facebook, Craigslist, etc. Thanks for looking!

I have the side screens and top but have never had them on. They need some work.
