That's what I said when told that a couple of glasses of wine daily are good for the heart!

I love that cross-ram intake. That whole motor is a beatiful piece of art.

Tony, what is the purpose of the holes in the sides of the hood on the V8 B?

And, what did the twin opposed SU and manifold that is sitting on the lift rack go on?

Jack, the historical overheating problem with V8's in MGB's isn't that the radiator can't handle the heat itself, its getting the heat out of the engine compartment...those three holes on either side lead to a vent system we built into the inner fender designed to pull hot air out of the engine compartment (Ferrari used a similar system on one of its cars)...when you see the final photo of the hood with its cowl induction you'll see another way we're tackling that heat buildup (along with Jet Hot coating the headers & using RV8 headers instead of the old original V8 hugger headers).

The manifold on the QuikLift is off a Rover V8 - it was used in sedans in Europe...its called a "High hat" intake & is fitted with dual HS-6's with insulated fuel bowls.

____________

That manifold on the engine is a cross-flow, 2-piece intake manifold with quad SU44 carbs that came off the engine of a TR8 that was raced all over Europe when the class went to fuel injection. The PO of the manifold & I compared our engines & found that I've got a street engine that's very close to what he was running on the track (& winning with!) so I went & got it!
