Can any one please tell me if it is possible to find out the correct engine number for my 1959 built AH3000/ I purchased the car from the USA in 2011 the car is original and totaly un restored although the engine has been rebuilt at some stage and painted a grey colour. Is the engine number recorded any where on the body? The chassis number is HBT7L03727. IanS

Thanks Rick I will contact them I was told when I bought the car that the engine was original but seeing it has been painted grey instead of green I am wondering if it has been replaced

Thanks for the reply Ian

Hey Ian,
Wouldn't worry about the color. The engine paint was called "steel dust gray"(per Clausager) so that could easily explain someone painting it a gray color if the more accurate green metallic paint was not available or known. Get your Heritage certificate and a lot of questions will be answered.
Regards,
Mike

If you don't care to purchase a "Certificate" you could check the registries for your particular model. The BCF lists registries above. If the car was registered they should have given the engine number.

At least I've always thought they would. Otherwise what's the use of a register if not to clarify issues like this?

Just my opinion.

If all you need is the engine number for Five pounds UK you can have them send you the information taken from the original records. Here's the link:
heritage info only link

Please let us know if this is what your seeking as a friend of mine also needs to know his engine number as well.
Thanks
