i just took a couple of pics of the frame sitting in the body receivers. the froward tilt seems exaggerated as the receiver is not a tight fit to the frame bottom legs. this might allow for a few more degrees of tilt. when i measured the bend in the legs i measured 20 degrees forward. and, yet the service parts manual show the frame legs without any forward offset? the offset in my frame appears very similar to the offset in randys picture. yes, bob the top does fit the frame very well with no looseness nor bagginess....but the main bow does appear to be about 1.5 inches behind the front seam...so i am still baffled and do not wish to order a new top until i am sure of the frame. any help or pic or measurement of the frame offset is appreciated!
i did a google search this morning and found a good? picture of the bn6 top frame. this is just like the one i have. evidently the top has been install incorrectly on the frame or car... bob thanks for the article you sent prive message..
Dropped over to see Bill Rawles of BRCC this morning and he had a BN7 in. All hood details are same/similar to BN6. They were working on the car at the time so I could not really ask if they would set the hood up, but here are a few photos. It would look as if you have the correct frame, - how does it line up with the side screen, as long as it clears the screen you should be alright.
bob, that is the problem...the side curtains do not line up with the top...see the pic a couple threads above. side caurtains overlap the top opening about 2 inches... thanks everyone for all the comments and help!! guess i will drive the v8 bj7 in cold weather for a while.......
Coincidentally, I had just posted this to the BN7 rollbar thread, but might be of use here too. My top and sidescreens are a decent match__certainly functional/acceptable, as far as I am concerned.
Part of the hood ( soft top) is going to be sandwiched between the hood frame and the side screen, but there is a welt on the outside of the hood that should line up of sorts with the side window frame. At least from memory that was how my BN4 was.
