When is the best time to install the engine compartment portion of the throttle cross shaft? Before the tub goes on the chassis (will it get trashed?) or after the tub is on the frame (Is there enough room)?

Bnw,
I took mine off while tub was on frame with engine installed.I will defineately be putting it back in while tub is off.

We found that it was best to install the cross shaft was after the tub was put back on the frame. Setting the tub over the engine it is very easy to bend that shaft. While it is obviously easier to install before putting the tub back on...having a straight shaft we felt more important. Gil NoCal

I installed mine while the tub was on the chassis, but with the engine removed. Installing the cross shaft with the engine in the bay leaves very little space.

I wouldn't think it makes much difference tub on or off...as long as the engine is not on the frame. If the engine is on the frame, then much easier tub off! The cross bar goes below and behind the engine, and the engine takes up a lot of the room.

Hi There bnw,

I installed mine while the tub was on the Chassis. "No Hickups" at that point. My Engine was out of the car.

There is about 1" of space between the Block & the Arm & It would be a Son of a Gun to install with the Engine on the Frame. The "Roll Pin(s)" would be a bit difficult to hammer down in there.

"HAVE FUN",

Russ
