It’s my wife’s baby. I’ll have to ask her to sign a photo consent form…

Saxomat trans?

Just a standard shift 4 speed. That was a New Year’s Day drive with the local VW club.

Since you're in "Sunny California",you need
to drive with the top down.

NICE! '70/'71?

Years ago ('72-'73) I had a '64 Ghia convertible; Ocean Blue with grey interior. Built a bored-out 1500 with Holley carb and mild cam. Great fun. It was stolen from in front of the apartment SWMBO and I lived in just after getting married. I reported it and called around to friends to be on the lookout. Buddy who had a VW shop said he saw it parked on the side of Airline Hwy. in Metairie, about 20 miles away. Apparently someone took it for a joyride and ran out of gas. Went and picked it up and luckily no damage. In fact, the culprit left behind a cassette recorder and a hairbrush. Sure wish I still had it! And unfortunately I have no pictures of it... ☹️

No, but we did keep the recorder for several years. Believe there were some tapes left with it as well.

In the UK the insurance will write off stollen cars even if there is no damage.
Too many people were getting them back and claiming engine was gone or clutch or gearbox.
Or some fancy mega expensive stereo had been swapped out.

Many moons ago our cars were broken into - the thief (kids likely) found a little storage bin that we dodn't even know existed BUT more to the point of the thread left all my cassettes. Mrs JP still periodically mocks me about my lack of musical taste that even thieves woouldn't take them. :D

We did get rained on that day so it was nice to have a top. Two or three cars didn’t have wipers so they weren’t enjoying the drive as much as the rest of us, though some other people were grumbling about how bad their defrosters were… No one brought out their dune buggies because of the ugly forecast.
