Well my generator has died from numerous causes. The front housing has enlarged, the armature is shorting out and the rear bearing housing area and armature shaft are shot.

Before I convert to an alternator I thought I would post and see if anyone has one laying around that they would like to relieve themselves of. Part number 22483A.

Any leads would be appreciated.
 
Steve, sorry to hear the old thing has packed it in. I had planned on talking to you about alternators/negative ground. See you Friday.

They specialize in Lucas.
 
I found a local generator shop here in Pittsburgh that has an older guy that knows vintage Lucas. He works1 or 2 days a week. He rebuilt my 1956 100 generator and it came back looking like a piece of art and producing great output. Its a little of a trek from Cleveland but the shop is Boulevard Generator, 4241 Ohio River Blvd, Pittsburgh, PA 15202. 412-766-766. Even had the needed brushes and bearings.

My only experience with alternators is with a Volvo (Bosch). After that I stick with Lucas. Like Michael I suggest that an experienced repairer be located, and after fitting, don't make the fan belt too tight.
