T-Series 1955 MG TF 1500 Transmission

My MG has been in storage since 1969. Engine and transmission no longer turn over. I have torn down the engine completely and also most of the transmission. Would like to talk to somebody with transmission experience in removing the final main gears. Looks like I have to remove the speedometer off the shaft first. It's frozen on. Any suggestions?

Soak it with penetrating fluid. Might take a while, might use a heat gun too.

Jed, For MG T series help, go to this site and sign up, it's free! Go to the members section and follow the directions to join, you'll be glad you did! This site has more T series owners than any site on the net. We all hang out there. After you sign up, go to the BBS page, scroll down to the TD/TF threads and ask your questions. Everyone there is more than happy to help. Lots of experts. I also own a 55 TF 1500. PJ
