T-Series 1953 TD Up-date

Re: & I didn't take my camera...

When I was a teenager, one of my best friend's older brother had a 52 TD in the basement that was constantly in parts like that, getting painted in lacquer...many fond memmories of working on that car until a trip to Southeast Asia interupted his project for a couple of years. I often wonder what happened to that TD...it was black and had carvings of native American faces in the wood (compliments of the family of carvers)that would be quite unusual.

If anyone knows the whereabouts of such a vehicle, I would love to find it, regardless of condition.

Re: & I didn't take my camera...

UPDATE....all the detached panels are in epoxy primer & the tub has been pressure washed in preparation for chemical stripping.....we're gonna have to touch up the frame & will repaint the engine before we tape it all up to do the body...Monday he's going to test paint a panel to check the color.

Re: & I didn't take my camera...

Tony-

Where is the chemical stripping place you use? I can't find one here around Jackson, so my only option around here appears to be having it blasted. ("It" being my 73 midget....I think I am going to buck up and do a full resto....) Anyway, have been torn between chemical stripping and blasting the tub, but I can't find a stripper around here to even talk to so I can compare the options.

Re: & I didn't take my camera...

The paint place we, Tony and I so far use does both blasting and hand chemical striping.

Re: & I didn't take my camera...

Right outside Huntsville, AL - Owens Crossroads to be exact.

Re: & I didn't take my camera...

WHEW!! Went by shop today - paint store had mixed a pint of "Bamboo Cream" instead of "Sequoia Cream" (told Rickey that was all they could find even though I gave them the BL paint code)...Bamboo has a green tint to it, Sequoia is just a real soft yellow cream....we went to Ricky's paint coedbook on computer, typed in the BL code & up popped Sequoia with the formula....Ricky's going back to get the right paint tomorrow & will paint a piece of metal & clear coat it for me to see.

Re: & I didn't take my camera...

hehe, that was close.

Re: & I didn't take my camera...

Got even better tonight as I was going through the boxes of loose parts that came with the car back when I got it to gather up all the littrle tidbits that have to be painted....it has pancake aftermarket air cleaners on it right now & I've been looking for an original air cleaner everywhere I can....well, tonight I found the original one in a box - complete!!! That saves me about $500!!

& an original Lucas fog lamp!!!

Re: & I didn't take my camera...

Ohhhh, an original Lucas fog lamp.

No telling what you got stashed away Tony. Have you considered a wall to wall inventory?

Re: & I didn't take my camera...

Jack - I'd be afraid what I might actually find in all these buildings & sheds....heck, I know I've got 2 sets of TD top bows & no telling what else I'll find as I continue to go through the boxes that came with it.....Someday Jerri's gonna have fun...hehehehe
