19 years old Triumph and MG addict from Slovenia:]

At first of all hello to all of you TRIUPMPH addicts, yes here in Slovenia we also have a disease called BRITISH CARS love addict.

However, I`m Jaka Bernardic, I`m 19 years old and I`m terribly inlove with an MGA, which I`ll try to find in USA, because here in Europe, there is almoust none of them(England`s are RHD) :rollface:

So if ANYONE KNOW FOR AN MGA ROADSTER FOR SALE, which isn`t so expensive please, please I BEG yoou to tell me:smile:

I`m on the end of my restoration of my Triumph Spitfire MK3, from 1967, but of course I`m dreaminh about me driving in an MGA, so I really really want one for me :pimp:

In that condition it was on the beginning, it as quiet rusty. The car came from Switzerland in that condition:

There was rust all over it, but I decided to help him from rusty miserability...

The interiour was also in far from perfect condition :mad2:

Motor was covered with rust, but it could be wheeled:

And then the party begin...I must say that this was for the first time in my life to strugle with metal, rust and everything and there wasn`t anyone to help me, so I decided that I`ll do it on my own way /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

And soon the body was off and frame prepared for sanding, jupiiiiii:

After a month it was back, then a little bit of paint and the frame was ready for insataling back :rolleye1:

I also take some time with wheels and made them like new:smile:

And then the motor of course, there was a LOOOOOT of work:

And then I was for a month with the man who is doing the paint and metal things and I was helping him, because I didn`t want to pay for things that I could do:smile: And here it was, the flash from camera made color look dizzzy, because of moisture;)

And then I was working and working and I`m still on that project, but I don`t have a lot more to do:smile:

This is me when I`m dreaming about driving with my VERY SEXY AND HOT TOY. The girls can`t wait to drive with me, but I will think which will go with me :pimp:

This is where I`m now and because I`m almoust on the end I want another project, about which I`m dreaming about an MG MGA, with english racing green and tan interiuor.

So wwhat do you think, quiet nice huh:smile: This is my story and I want to go on with a story of an MGA about which I`m reaming about. So if maybe somebody know for a complete or even driveable MGA for sale I would be very happy to find one for me.

Slovenia, my favorite country I have never visited, I had a chance to escort some Army Officers of a Slovenian unit here in the States for two weeks and have found to be great friends. They tried hard to talk me into a visit but alas the US Army had other plans. They continue to try to lure me to you country with pics of beaches filled with Bikini clad woman... I will visit some day but it looks absolutely beautiful. Oh, yeah. you car looks like it is comoing along fine too
 
Welcome to the Forum Jaka, I enjoyed the photos of your Spitfire project -- nice work. I wouldn't mind being a 19-year-old driving a Spitfire.

Your desire to restore an MGA is understandable but you may find it a challenge for a couple of reasons.

There are probably some ways, but generally I think it is hard to ship non-operating cars. Driveable but unrestored MGAs are not easy to find and very hard to find under $10,000. Okay, you didn't specify a price range but I thought I'd throw that in there.

Also, U.S. sellers are often reluctant to deal with overseas buyers. There are many reasons for this but in general it is just more complicated to successfully complete the transaction and most sellers want a simple transaction that completes quickly.

Having said all that, one advantage of being 19 years old is that you should probably ignore much of what you hear from anyone over 40... particularly if they are trying to discourage you from pursuing something you really want.

Best of luck with the completion of your Spitfire and in your search for an MGA.
 
Yes I understand that it looks like it is a little bit understand, why I wan`t also an MGA.
At firts of all I almoust ended with restoring my Triumph, so you know, I want to restore something more, because I really like my hobby. The only problem is that I`m studying law, which take me a loooot of time.
But I was allways dreaming about an MGA and I was working hard, learning and everything, but in Europe I really couldn`t find an MGA for that money.
Then I realized that MGA`s are much much cheaper in USA, because 70% of them were exported to USA.
The shipping is the smallest problem, because my uncle know how to do it and he knows the shipping company, which shipped him a new car-DODGE from USA.
And yes Slovenia is one of the most beautiful countries in Europe, because in such a small place we have evrything from SEA(nice girls with bikinis yes), mountains(3000m), lakes and everything, so if yomebody want to come here let me know and I`ll try to hel you. Driving with Triumph is included:smile:

Does anybody know where also to look for an MGA, I saw one here for 5500$, which was I think good price, but it was sold before.

Where do you prefer to take a look(I know EBAY; HEMMINGS, COLLECTORCARADS)?

Jaka - what happened to the MGA you bought a few weeks ago from the man in North Carolina? Back on June 18 on a different forum you said the MGA was already on the ship coming to you, and that you were also buying a radio and a Moto-Lita steering wheel for it. I remember you also asked about how American bank transfers worked.

Well, I guess that just about eliminates all of us...
 
Yes the car I bought but it is not on the ship yet, because it`s waiting in Baltimore`s port in Maryland to be shipped to Bremenhaven-Europe. It is going on the RO-RO ship on the 1.July from Baltimore with Wallenius-Wilhelmsen shipping lines vessel. About moto lita, I have this steering wheel also here, but I`m still looking for a radio. But I decided to buy a radio here in Slovenia, because I can find a chrome one, maybe even easier, because there is a lot of old Mercedes Benz`s with nice Blaupunkt radios on our junkyards.

Anyway, I just decided to buy one or even more MGA, because I realized that here in America MGA`s aren`t so expensive and that maybe it would be also much better to buy one, which would be cheaper and I would totally restorated him, like I did with my Triumph. Because on the end I`m sure that you feels better, because you know that you have done everything that this car is driving and so on, I`m sure that you understand.
Or even buy more of them and sell them here, because they could be selled here really quiet easy and for good money.

Brooklands, I must say this website that your member did is great, really, because it connects all the advertisements on one side, I`m sure that I will use that.

Thank you again for all your kind answers, I`m sure tht one time I`ll come to USA and come on a meeting, because I really want to see America for one time in my life:smile:
 
Nice photos! Slovenia is lovely; I visited twice to help with some conservation work, and was taken all over the country. I remember Ljubljana well, Bled, and Piran. And saw more old churches than I could count. Never saw an old British car there, but I imagine it'd stand out!
 
Guys, if we work fast we may be able to save this innocent young soul from the same fate that beset us. But if he's on this forum and seen all that we go through with our LBC's and is still going through with this it's probably too late.

So, if that's the case...Jaka, welcome to the club and best of luck to you and your projects.

Hey Cheapsnake don`t worry, I like that kind of fate, actually I think that I have became an addict of english classics.

But I`m happy about it, so if somebudy have an MGA for sale just say and there will be me:smile:
