I have an 18V engine I am rebuilding to fit in my MGA along with a 5 speed box and 3.9 diff.

The engine has a tag on it showing

18V 847 H0 34587

What year would that engine be?

Ta again!

BB

18V's were put into use around '71-'72.

BB,
According to "The Original MGB" your 18V engine was built some where between September '74 through October '80, but it was probably built closer to 1980 say '77+-.
Engine numbers 101 through 40188 were built between these dates. Since 34587 is closer to the latter number it was problbly built closer to 1980. The "H" means high compression at 9:1

Ah! Excellent thank you, I think that means the fornt engine plate on the 18V will not fit the MGA mounts, so I'll have to use the MGA front plate.

Thanks

Ben
