had been waiting on a replacement part from Moss for 3 weeks.
The original sizing sleeve (fits on the crank pulley boss, to resize it to a TR3A timing cover/oil seal) that shipped with my narrow belt conversion had rust blemishes and dings on it. Apparently a common problem for Moss.(BTW: I was dealing with Mack at Moss & he was very helpful. One question I posed to him is "why doesn't Moss pre-mount the sleeve on the pulley for The TR conversion kit?"
....no answer......, but it would make more sense.
i finally got my belt system back together after about a three month stall. Not all due to defective parts, though.
My first plan was to go with a Bastuck NB pulley set I got from BPNW. This pulley set would have allowed me to keep my mechanical fan ( converted to a GT6, 8 blade yellow poly). I have to admit, the Bastuck fit & finish quality is better than Moss.
But in the end went with the Moss dampner system for few reasons:
1). The poly fan was going to be redundant as I have an electric fan to install as well.
2). Reducing the weight & drag on the engine by eliminating the crank fan is appealing.
3). If it turns out this set up is optimal, then I can easily convert to rack & pinion in the future.
4). I am optimistic the dampner pulley will smooth out my engine vibration somewhat.
The new alternator & pulley, new water pump & pulley , new dampner crank pulley all lined up and the belt was easy to install.
tightened everything down. Pulled the #1 plug and inserted a TDC whistle indicator( I took a pic of this thing, [see below] It worked great and doesn't require inserting a probe in the cylinder.) marked my TDC. And am feeling pretty good right now.
