16 Valve head,,, Oh Good Lord!

A Twin Cam 16 valve head kit for the A series....

the "kit" uses a BMW K100 motorcycle head, and evidently produces friggin awsome power.

Anyone on this board done such a thing?

This appears to be just as doable as the minisport 7 port head, at least cost wise.

Re: Oh Good Lord!

At what point does it cease to be an A-series engine? If I was going to go this far, I think I'd do an all out engine swap.

But... it is a neat bit of engineering, and I'd like to see/drive one. It just isn't something I'd personally spend the time/money on.

Re: Oh Good Lord!

Wouldn't that be a K-Series?

Re: Oh Good Lord!

Coincidentally yes the BMW head is from their "K" series of bikes but no, this does not make the motor a rover K series engine. the Rover is a different animal.

Alot of money yes but until I find a conversion to a modern japanese twincam that doesn't require cutting the car I am going to keep looking for something rather extreme to do to this 1275 on my garage floor.

Re: Oh Good Lord!

My word, people and their toys. Boy that sounded good.

Re: Oh Good Lord!

Alright, I'm impressed.
I just figured since BMW purchased the Rover group, there may be a link there. Good stuff.

Re: Oh Good Lord!

how much? i couldnt find a price.

Re: Oh Good Lord!

If you got to ask price you can't afford it.

Re: Oh Good Lord!

Re: Oh Good Lord!

Isn't there an issue with Spridgets on exhaust manifold location using a Cross Flow Head? Not that I can afford one of these anyway.

Re: Oh Good Lord!

Now THAT's a good lookin' piece of engineering!

~tasty~! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

Re: Oh Good Lord!

For 10k wouldn't you go for a worked rotary?

Re: Oh Good Lord!

Lukeee: Found the price: Morspeed 16V engine ÂŁ4,700, (about $12.5k Aussie) or just under ÂŁ4k with an exchange unit. If its just the 16V head, ÂŁ750 ($1,800 roughly) or ÂŁ230 on exchange which I thought was pretty good.
Hate to think what shipping is to Aus though: I was gonna send some Prawn Cocktail crisps to my sis during her pregnancy cravings and they wanted almost ÂŁ50 for a 2.2kg box!!
