1500 Weber/Pierce install question

ok, I've got my Weber (thanks Bud!) and it's mounted to a Pierce intake manifold. The question is, how in God' green earth do you get the bottom two nuts/bolts on? I've been trying for three hours, and the stock nuts (~1.5" long)don't fit under the manifold, and regular nuts you can't get to with any device in my tool box. My only thought is to take the long ones to work tomorrow (sigh. 80 deg F in NH)and mill a 1/4 "
or so off the ends. What am I doing wrong?

I remember doing this with my MGC and the method I used was to get it all started loose so it could pull out an inch or so and the studs were still accessible. That was over 20 years ago, so if there's a better way someone pipe in.

Rick has is right. That is what I did on my 1500. Fit everything loosely, then you can just barely get the bottom two nuts on. Once started, it is 1 or maybe 1/2 of a flat at a time. I have small hands and arms, I could get my arm behind and under the manifold and then hand in the wrench to myself. But if I dropped the wrench, forget it and start over.

After pulling my motor for the fourth time (don't ask its been a long year) I finally got smart and replaced those long nuts with the shorter ones. It worked much better after that. Also, check to be sure your Pierce (sp) manifold is clearing your exhaust manifold and not laying on top of it. I got everything installed and thought it was tight but there was a small gap around the bottom of the intake manifold that you couldn't see but it was caused because it wouldn't flush up. I ended up grinding the two spots on the exhaust manifold off where it was hitting. ( I think this was where the previous manifold attached maybe?)
I don't have a header exhaust and this is why there was a conflict in my midget.
