Spitfire 1500 Spit ring gap spec needed please

Just got my rings in and BL Midget 1500 manual says top and second ring gap is .065, but the Grant instructions say .003-.004 per inch of bore dia. .065 seems a bit big for ring gap, but that's about what I had for the old rings that came out of it.

I'd tend to go with the ring mfg.
