Spitfire 1500 spit frame

My 77 Spit is in wonderful condition except the frame is rotting near the rear wheels.

There is a 79 frame for sale near my home.

Is the 1979 frame the same as the 1977?

Essentially yes, it is. There might be slight differences up front for radiator mounting, but that's about a half-hour of cutting/rewelding, I'd think. Also, if it's a late 1979 that had the full plastic bumpers front and rear, there's a bit of extra mounting hardware on front that might have to be removed.
