can anyone send me some pictures of what the 1500 heater hose routing with the heater valve is supposed to look like? I have seen what is shown in the victoriabritsh/moss/parts books but don't really show which hoses are connected to which.

hows this?

so it looks like the black hose is the water supply from the pump. then the red hose that tees off of the black hose, right before the heater valve, allows the water to go back to the engine block when the heater valve is turned off. am i correct on this?

Mark's routing is slightly different from stock since he doesn't have the water choke. Mine has the hose from the manifold (the black) hose the same, but the red hose from the T goes to the water choke, and the return from the water choke goes to the T at the return pipe on the engine block. So yes, the length of hose he has allows the water to return when the heater is off, and that would normally go through the water choke.

and i dont have the piping thru the intake manifold hooked in the circut.

Here's what I managed to take of my car's setup. Hope this helps out. The water choke is the automatic choke. If you have the stock Zenith Stromberg carburetor, it has a temperature controlled choke and fast idle that adjusts depending on the engine temperature. On American cars, there was usually an electric heater that would slowly warm up the choke to gradually turn the choke off, the theory being that the electric heater would warm it up roughly as fast as the engine warmed up. The setup on the Zenith actually uses engine coolant to do the same thing, so we call it the water choke instead of an electric choke. Many people curse the Zenith's automatic choke, because it often gets out of adjustment and temperamental.

SParkyDave,

any chance you can show me a pic of the heater box from the other side? Is it supposed to be just a big O with a flap inside or is there some kind of hose or something that connects to it?

Blackjokr,
on the other side of the box there should be a fresh air hose. Running from the Big O with the flapper valve to the hole in the radiator support. Some folks use 4 inch Dryer hose. I bought some stuff at a parts store and it has worked well.
