Well, looks like the fan clutch is a bit dicey. Not willing to buy another one, I'm begining to like the idea of an electric fan instead, at the back of the radiator, secured with zip ties.

I have been going to the junkyards recently for stuff for my ancient Camry and I'm thinking about going back checking out fans with a tape measure.

Anybody done this conversion? Guess it is not rocket science - just pick the biggest fan that will fit.

Any comments?

Cheers

I have done it.... you're probably going to have to mount it in front of the radiator. The water pump does not allow for much room. If I remember right, I picked up a 12 inch fan from Advanced Auto. I had to trim a the fan shroud a bit to get it to fit in the shroud.

If you change your mind, I have a good clutch I have been meaning to sell on eBay that I will let you have for $15.

Walking out the door to go out of town. I will get with you Monday.

Well, it was made in the last century.

(It's a 1990 - we've had it from new - now its got 286k miles on it and still going strong. Good to get your money's worth out of something, isn't it!)

Cheers!
