15 years? Really?

The other day in a staff meeting at work, my boss called me up to present me with a nice surprise. Seems I just went past the 15 year mark with my company and was presented with a nice desk plaque and a gift catalog from Michael C. Fina. I get to pick any gift in the catalog (anything from a Flat Screen TV to a Zojirushi bread maker or maybe a nice men's watch). Guess I'd lost track of how long I'd been there. I joined the company after a 24 year career in the Air Force. Dang I feel old!

Goes quickly doesn't it! I will hit 15 years in a few weeks. Seems like yesterday or so. Looks like you are getting a nicer choice of gifts

Funny, I got to choose from the Fina catalog a few years ago (it was my 30th year at my current school).

41 years in teaching (total) for me so far.
Seems like it went in a flash.

And congratulations to you! It's always good to have your service recognized.

PS - what's a Fina catalog? When I hit 15 years, the university only gave me a firm and hearty handshake!

Michael C. Fina is a hoytie toytie company that sells hoytie toytie stuff. They have an employee recognition program that companies can use to recognize employees. I got a catalog of gifts that I can choose from. None of it is really high-end stuff, but there are some interesting choices. Since I have a 32 inch Sony Bravia flat screen in my BCF Office, I'm leaning towards the Sony Bravia sound system, or possibly the Sharp 3D/Blu-ray/DVD player.

+1 15 years with any company (or increasingly any spouse) is a milestone these days!

Good for you, Basil!

...just watch out for that 16th year, 'smits just passed 16 and had her position eliminated last Monday.

Sorry to hear Doc, you'll be in our prayers

That sucks. What was her former occupation? ( if I may ask)

Well done, Basil. Is funny how the time flies (just finishing 9 years here, by far the longest I've worked any one place).

Well that's a find how-do-you-do. Fingers crossed that the rebound is quick and leads to better things. Y'all need anything, just ask.

Wish my company would do that

Been there, done that. It turned out to be one of the best things that ever happened to me.

Good luck!

From my perspective, it's Herself UNCHAINED. We'll see.

I'm fairly sure you need a 3D ready TV to take advantage of the blu-ray player.

I think that's only only if I plan to play 3D movies (which I don't - gives me a headache). Blu-Ray is not 3D. This player will play 3d or Blu-Ray or regular DVD. Anyway, it's moot point because I have decided, after thinking about it a couple of days, to get the Seiko men's watch. I inherited an almost identical watch from my Dad when he died, but that watch quit working and the cost to repair (it was electronic) would have cost more than the watch was worth.

My Dad always wore Seiko watches and I had one myself years ago. I now wear a Timex Indiglo that I picked up for $19 at the BX. It's pretty plain, but keeps great time and it's very easy to read at night. If I'm going "out on the town" I will wear my 1940's vintage Lord Elgin that I inherited from my Grand Father. As old as it is, it still keeps very good time (had to have it cleaned once though)

Here's my Seiko Chronograph that I've worn everyday for 40 years! They are great watches.
Photo is not my watch but the exact model... my crystal is not scratched.
