Hello all,

I am new to this forum and would like to kick off my time here with a question. I am rebuilding a 72 spitfire MkIV and have a question about the crank. Do all of the FK blocks come with a larger crank than the FD and FE series? I ask because my journals are measuring about the same as a 1500 crank. Also the cam has no bearings. it is fitted in the block just like the 1500. Any clarification on this would be greatly appreciated.

I have a 73 Spit 1500 with a late FK motor.

As I understand it the FK is the big bearing 1300. More like the 1500 motor that the early small bearing 1300.
 
FK basically means "big crank"

Now not that I want to cause problems but if you have access to a small crank motor, that is what I would rebuild an put it. They rev up much quicker and a smoother than the big crank motors.
