12v power outlet mount

My brain is gone.

How the heck do you mount this? The unit comes with a single wood screw. You can't put the screw into the slot except from the *outside* - and thus screwing down into the unit. Unless you completely dis-assemble the unit and mount the bracket first.

You want to screw outwards away from the unit - but you can't get the screw into the slot in that direction.

You can take the whole thing apart and screw just the bracket into the dash ... but trying to re-assemble all the interlocking pieces upside down in a cramped space would be a nightmare. Especially trying to get the center contact through several square shaped washers and out the other end, then screw on the red wire terminal - yikes.

Other than SuperGlue, any suggestions?

Thanks.
Tom

The outer barrel of the socket doesn't just unscrew apart from the bracket without dismanteling all th inner contacts? That's how most of the ones I've ever had worked.

Good grief. Talk about an embarrassed fool. After completely taking the thing apart, I now see what to unscrew. Didn't realize the threaded end was actually two parts.

Please keep me away from all sharp objects.

Thanks Ben.

Not to worry, Tom. If that thing were equipped with a yoke and hooves, you'd've been all over it! :jester:

Tom, been there....often, and recently. Things I never had to think about, and I go to do them and can't remember what the heck I need to do.
