1275 transmission throw out bearing

I am putting a new throw out bearing. When I put the bearing in the lever arm with the retaining clips it is very tight. How much play should there be? Or should it be tight?

It should move freely but without play. It's a close fit and sometimes the tolerances are such that it can be tight. I doubt that it matters a whole lot, as it can be pretty stiff and still the stiffness is small compared to the forces on it, but you might want to loosen it up a bit just for good karma, if nothing else. Of course, be sure you have it together right.
