1275 Parts Decisions have been Made

Jeff,
I have that 'little half moon bit' but I can tell you it wasn't safety wired on to the block!!

Thanks,

Bruce_B and GB!:
I am about 1 mile from Lake Tranquility and I make it out to the Delaware River on a regular basis

Nail,

I have too been Moss regularly, and missed you last spring, we should coordinate. I was raised in Tranquility on Creek Road, by the airport, stucco house with the red spanish tiles. I am sure that you have seen from the air, the Morton in the back was filled with cars (mostly German Porsches and Mercedes and British). hehehe

So funny we met this way.

Patrick

Head, rods and pistons for a mini and spridget are all the same, it when you you get to the crank and below the differences plays in. There is no such thing as Mini or Spridget specfic pistons, they are for either motor.

I think Bruce is suggesting that they are fudging part numbers a bit as an equivalent substitution.

Again, thanks to all for their advice. I'll be sending that 'half moon bit' down to the machine shop so theycan line bore the block.

Trevor -- you put it better than I did about the part number fudging.

For what it's worth, the 21253 piston's compression height is correct, I came with a quick measurement of 1.529", but with the 21251 that would mean a whole bunch of negative deck hieght.I would study the math hard and made sure I came with a compression ratio of about 9.5 to 1.

Make sure you gasket it and leave alone during assembly, this will be the last time it is touched through the build.

Patrick:
We have a summer house in Cranberry Lk. Pretty funny!

Click the link below for a pictures of the area, including a picture of Trinca airport in Tranquility that I took from my Aeronca.

Also: Great info on the 9 vs. 11 hole conversion in the 1275.
I have had several folks suggest adding the two extra studs, but I've never had any head gasket problems in that part of the head. I have a great machine shop at work, so doing this is no problem, but based on Hap's comments, I'm sticking to 9.
