1275 oil pressure--NOT!

I just finished my engine install--1275cc--and found that there is no oil pressure. I did find a reference to an "oil prime plug" but no information on priming the pump if that's what needs to be done. I don't want to pull the engine if I don't have to. Any thoughts? When I put the oil pump in I thought I had all the parts in the right places but maybe not. Hope there's an easier fix than extract and replace. Thanks for any info. JSM
 
Pull the banjo bolt at the rear on the dizzy side where the pipe runs to the oil filter. Carefully fill it with oil till it will not take anymore, that will prime the pump.
 
After doing that, pull the plugs and spin it on the starter, (with everything re-connected, of course) and see what you get.

Thanks guys! I really didn't want to dig the pump out again. Hopefully the prime thing will do the job. I read on another forum that I should bleed the line to the pressure guage also. JSM
 
Bleeding the line won't do much for you, as the gauge reads pressure, whether it's oil or compressed air makes no difference. A bit of air in the line actually acts as a snubber, to dampen out any pressure pulse fluctuations.
