1275 muffler options

I really want to see if I can quiet my '71 Midget down a bit. All new parts from Moss, doughnut to muffler. I know that many people love the sound of the 1275 exhaust note, but I want it be as quiet as it can be with the stock set up, not the dual, transverse one that came later.

The muffler on the car when I got it was somewhat oval in shape, exactly as pictured in the Moss catalog, pn 444-260. But what you get when you order that part from either Moss or VB is round and smaller.

Anyone know where I can that slightly larger, oval muffler that is pictured in both Moss and VB? Anyone been on the same mission and found an aftermarket muffler that looks right?

Thanks.

Hi Yeoman ,Take the dimensions of the muffler you want to a good high quality independant muffler shop and they can probably fit you with one or order it for you. PS You did not read the Moss disclaimer /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif---Fwiw---Keoke

It won't make your car much quieter, but a fun conversion that works really well on my bugeye (nice exhaust burble etc.)is a Harley Davidson. All nice and shiney chrome too! Much more free-flow!

I was just under my 77 and it has the stock looking exhaust and it's very quiet and it's a Walker, if that helps you.

Sorry, mine has the transverse setup.
