1275 Midget motor/trans into a 75 Spitfire?

Hi I'm visiting from the Triumph forum. I got a good deal on a complete 75 Spitfire sans motor. I was wondering how difficult it would be to swap in a 1275 motor and trans. ei. potential problems with motor and trans mount locations, positioning of gear lever, driveshaft mods etc. Anyone done this or heard of it being done? CK

Never seen it done, but I think it is doable. Most likely you'll need a custom drive shaft and exhaust.

Why not just get a 1300 or 1500 Triumph engine?

can't think of anyone doing it - I have the 1500 and know that British Leyland had to adapt the metal in the Midget engine bay. Honestly though if I had a Spit with no motor I'd be making a hot rod out of it and drop a zetec or a small V6 in it. Like these guys did

oooh! I like the 2.3 turbo. That'll do nicely.
